Kai Maison was an unforgettable experience. We walked in and the place was packed, already a good sign, and despite our reservation it seemed they were overbooked.
Now this would have frustrated me under normal circumstances, however Tully, my girlfriend, and I were immedietly offered drinks on the house. We both got a cocktail and were thoroughly impressed,
so much so that the short wait for a table didn't bother either of us.
Eventually we were guided to a lovely table that faced a large window giving us a view of the street, and a feeling of privacy as our backs were turned to the rest of the customers.
With drinks at hand, and a beautiful table the food would have to be more than horrible to ruin the mood.
The cocktails were both extremely refreshing and packed with fruity flavors that offset the bitterness of the alcohol.
As a fellow designer I must say the font used in the menu was quite appealing.
Now let us get the most important part: the food.
The food at Kai Maison can be described in three words.
Delicious, vibrant, and cute.
We ended up ordering three appetizers: a japanese take on tacos, charcoal fried chicken, and a luxurious broccoli dish. I personally enjoyed the charcoal fried chicken the most,
the charcoal colored the chicken's crispy shell a deep black which made the food quite a sight for the eyes. It was paired with a delicious mayo that was leagues above any mayo I've ever gotten my hands on.
Next came the entrees, I got a delectable piece of salmon surrounded by a sea of tasty vegetables and Tully got the chicken teriyaki.
Both dishes were packed with flavor, and I thoroughly enjoyed the salmon. I remember that the chicken was extremely soft, and the teriyaki sauce that came with it was delightful.
Additionally, the quality of the salmon really shocked me, and I quickly devoured that beautiful slab of fish.
The dessert came last and it was extremely cute.
It was a mango panna cotta mixed with tapioca. The texture was really interesting, and it was a very good dessert.
Overall a wonderful experience.
